Day 8-Dylon Joseph

Kristen

Twelve years ago today, I was waking up for the first time as a mother.  Wow the innocence I once had! It certainly has not been an easy ride, but one I would not change for the world.  When you bring a child into the world, I don't think you spend a lot of time thinking long term.  You have a baby to hold and love.  Those days are certainly fleeting and you are left in the reality of trying to be the best mom you can be.  It's an endless game of schedules and meals and talks and collapsing into bed at the end of the day hoping that you have done the best for each of your children.  You never know the final answer until they are grown and it's too late to turn back the clock on your choices.
Dylon has one of the best personalities around.  He can talk to anyone-child or grown up alike.  He has an imagination that knows no bounds.  A few years ago we were eating a meal together.  It was close to either his birthday or Christmas.  He said that he didn't need any presents this year.  I asked why.  His answer-because I am going to build a money machine and then I can buy whatever I want.

He is a rule follower.  Though he struggles daily in school, he is respectful and kind to all his teachers.  They appreciate him for it.  He was a late-talker, but once he started, he never stopped.  Recently he wasn't home for dinner.  Emma commented that it was awfully quiet in the house.  My answer-Dylon's not here.

Driving the Jungle Cruise boat!

Though this road has not always been easy, I am proud to be your mom and I hope that when you make it to adulthood you look back on the choices we made for you and realize that they weren't so bad after all.

This is the first year you could fight Darth Vader and Dylon was dressed like him.  When Darth was done fighting him, he send his Storm Troopers after him-scared him to death!
