Day 11: Today is Veterans Day and as Kristen put it, it goes without saying I am truly grateful and thankful that we have men and women who put their lives on the line everyday for our freedom. We are truly blessed to live in an awesome country. Troy's grandfather, Dr. Justin Walker (yes my son Justin was named after him) was in the air force. I have a cousin, Ryan Owensby who is in the Marines and I have an uncle, George Emerson who I believe was also in the Marines. Thank you to everyone who has and is still serving in the military.

Day 10: Today I am thankful for my children's sports. Yes it is a pain to drive them to practice and games far far away but I truly LOVE to watch them all play. Over the years they have been gymnasts, soccer players, football players, baseball players, a cheerleader, a lacrosse player, basketball players, and track stars. The only sport they haven't done competitively is swimming which was my main sport growing up. (sniff sniff)
Yesterday, Tyler played a championship soccer game. They won 5 to 1 and it was just amazing how well he has been playing lately. He was very lucky to be on such a great team with a terrific coach.
On Saturday Tyler's team had to play for a chance to be in 4th place and make it to the playoffs. He played near a park in East Goshen Township with a pretty big running trail. I had the great idea that if they made it to the championship game on Sunday (also played at this same field) I would do my long 12 mile run at this park. Well, as you know, they won both games on Saturday and secured their championship spot. I had all of my gear ready to go for a run after the game. The whole time I was cheering Tyler and the Panthers on, I was secretly regretting my decision to run. It became super windy and I was freezing. All I really wanted to do was drive home and get a pumpkin spice latte on the way.
Well, I forced myself to run and I even finished the 12 miles I dreaded wanted to run. Even with the wind, I had a great run. It is amazing how a change of scenery can make you enjoy running again. Without my endless weekend traveling with my children to their sports, I may not have found this new running venue. So today I am thankful that my children play their sports...for more than just running, I swear!!!

Day 9: Today I am thankful for my in laws!!!! I am truly blessed to have such awesome extended family. I have Ted, my father in law, Cheryl, his wife, and mother in law, my mother in law Linda, Tod and Billy, Troy's brothers and Tija, my sister in law who is married to Tod. They also have two children, Trey and Tahri. Troy's grandmother, Thelma Walker just recently passed away in June and she is greatly missed!!! Troy's grandfather, Justin passed away a few years ago. Also greatly missed.
I will never forget when I met them all. They were so welcoming and gave me hugs. (I don't come from a very huggy family.) I listen to my friends talk about the troubles they have with their in laws and I just think to myself, I am so very lucky!!!!!
Every year Troy's family has not one but two family reunions. We try to get to at least one of them each year but with the children's sports schedules, it is sometimes difficult. It is a blast spending time with his extended family. Not to mention we get to travel to new places and eat!!! (My favorite past time!!!)
Each Christmas we host the festivities. Both my side of the family and Troy's side come to celebrate. It is one big chaotic party and I wouldn't have it any other way. It is so nice to be able to have ALL of our family together at least once a year. So Phillips-Walker family, I am truly thankful to have you in my life!!!!
